Upgrade Your RV With LED Lighting

If you do a lot of onlookers (no camping connections), then you know that battery life is one of the most important things you need to plan, especially if you have a small battery bank. A great way to save a lot of energy is to convert your existing incandescent lighting into LED lighting. LEDs represent light-emitting diodes and provide very different light from incandescent or fluorescent light sources. The main advantage of boondocks is that LEDs require very little energy to operate. So you don't have to worry about turning off the lights when you don't need them.

How much energy can you save using LED technology? In a classic 27-foot caravan with a slide and two bunk beds, you can have more than 20 incandescent bulbs of 12 watts or more. If you had all this at the same time, you would consume about 20 amps of DC. In a few hours, the battery of your single 24 12 volt set would be almost dead. Even if you had two batteries, you wouldn't have much left to end a 2-day weekend without recharging your batteries.

Now, if you were to replace each inner incandescent bulb in this fictitious travel trailer with a 24-LED warm-color lamp, each pulling 190 mA, the total energy consumption drops to 3.8 amps or a five-energy consumption times lower. You probably wouldn't replace every incandescent bulb with a 24-LED LED lamp, but you could do it and, if you did, you'd use 5 times less energy, even if all the lights were on.

When using LED lighting mode, you can take different routes: individual lighting, such as a night or a reading lamp, all or part of indoor, indoor and outdoor lighting, storage compartments, etc. It all depends on your budget and your coolness factor. you are trying to reach. Replacing each incandescent bulb can break your piggy bank, but doing a little can still help save battery.

Using a single LED for a nightlight, like in the bathroom, can save your life. It may not save your life, but if you have to get up at 2 a.m., you won't be blinded by the light and you should be able to go back to sleep. A single LED connected via an SPST switch mounted on the bathroom fixture can provide just enough light to do your job.

You may just want to change a few lights, like those on top of your bed, which are usually too bright to read. There is direct replacement LED lamps that do not require any modifications to the fixture, except for the exchange of lamps. For this type of LED lamp, use the "hot white" type. Cold white LEDs give a bluish hue to the color of light and may not appeal to your reading tastes. Hot white LEDs provide a color of yellowish light very similar to that of a normal incandescent bulb.

If you are considering replacing the main headlights inside the recreational vehicle and have the type of light fixtures with two light bulbs with a switch in the middle, you can replace a light bulb to reduce costs. So not only do you save money, but you can also provide more light when you need it by turning on the second bulb. In this case, you should consider LEDs with a wide beam angle, at least 120 degrees. This is the angle at which the light is projected by the lamp. The wider, the better if you try to light up a large area. These lamps are usually configured in a flat case with many LED lighting, up to 36 in some cases. They simply attach to the fixture with Velcro and plug-in like a standard bulb.
